Nordic Now

The aim of this project is to design an annex for the National Nordic Museum in Seattle. I designed the annex with fellow student Nicole Mygatt, and through our conversations we defined the as annex as a celebration of contemporary Nordic culture by focusing on the here and now.

Nordic Now is split into two parts: the contemporary museum expansion comprising of special exhibit space, auditorium, and museum store and the culture hub comprising of a Scandinavian restaurant, retail, innovation house, language institute, and aquavit bar.

The design aims to engage with the busy Market Street and extending it through an internal street front that also connects to the existing museum circulation while also engaging views to the waterfront and downtown Seattle, both inside and outside.
